SOUTH STATION TOWER
As part of the South Station Air Rights Project, Unified's demolition work enabled the extension of the MBTA track system and rooftop modifications, paving the way for a 51 story mixed use tower to rise above the existing station, delivering both residential and office space.
Bus Terminal Roof Demolition
Above South Station's bus and train station, Unified removed 24,000 square feet of temporary topping slab at the roof top level. Our team worked the night shift during the winter months, working in frigid temperatures and managing snow removal to meet the production schedule.

Removal of topping slab at roof top.

Removing topping slab to expose decking.
Unified also completed miscellaneous structural scope throughout the site; scraping of spray fireproofing off steel beams for connection points, openings in CMU Walls, openings in concrete slabs, scaffolding, floor grinding to achieve level floor heights, appliance deliveries, and temporary protection for work in residential areas.
Commuter Rail Track Foundation Work
As part of the Commuter Rail extension, Unified's team managed the sawcutting work performed by Pro Cut. Blocks were cut and removed from the platform at the end of the tracks so the catenary lines providing electrical power to the trains could be continued.
Concrete slabs were saw cut into blocks, hoisted up by a lull and removed all while working on an active platform during MBTA off hours. Due to this, it was of utmost importance that our work plan each day was completed on time and cleaned up so MBTA operations could resume without disruption to their service.
