With expansive knowledge in the environmental and construction fields, John Carey brings nearly 30 years of hands-on experience to Unified. John got his start in environmental work began during his college years at Mass Maritime Academy, where he was part of a team responsible for cleaning the school's fleet tanks—an early experience that set the foundation for his long-standing career in environmental remediation and clean up.
Throughout his career, John has taken on diverse roles, including working as a CDL driver hauling hazardous waste and serving as an asbestos supervisor managing large-scale power plant and hospital construction projects. His extensive field experience has given him a deep understanding of environmental safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Before stepping into his current role, John served as a Field Supervisor in Unified’s Environmental Remediation Division, where he successfully managed numerous large and complex projects. Known for maintaining clean, organized, and well-run job sites, he takes pride in upholding high standards of efficiency and safety. As he transitions into project management, John looks forward to applying his field expertise to estimating and managing work for Unified’s Environmental Division. He also enjoys tackling logistical challenges, ensuring that every project runs smoothly from start to finish.
If wont $100M in the lottery, how would you spend the money?
The first thing I would do is buy a an awesome truck and fifth wheel trailer and spend my days traveling the country.
Describe your dream vacation.
My dream vacation would be to travel to a place where no man has any business being- like the middle if the ocean or 500 feet below it. Something like that!
What's the craziest thing you have ever done?
Back in 2001, I hiked the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I am a fairly good foosball player! I spent a lot of time playing Foosball at Maritime.
